United Way
- Jerry Narron,
Manager of the Cincinnati Reds stopped by with Geoff Hulse on December 13th to talk about the United Way's "Bring It On" Campaign. When the 90% mark is reached of
the United Way's goal, Jerry will be at the Wayne County Library to read to the kids.

Front Page -
Wake Up Wayne reciently made the front page of the Goldsboro News-Argus with Rep. Lewis Page, Mayor All King,
and United Way Campaign Chairman Geoff Hulse. These three were here to talk about the "Bring It On" campaign to help the United Wayne
reach it's goal. Rep. Lewis went to Mt. Olive Pickle to pack pickles Friday, Dec. 1st. Mayor King will be serving coffee at Starbucks when
the 70% level is reached. Sherrif Cary Winders will be serving donuts at Krispy Kreme when the 80% level is reached. The 90% level will prompt
local baseball celeberty Jerry Narron to read to kids at the Wayne County Public Library, and at 100%, Geoff Hulse will jump out of an airplane (with an instructor and parachute).

| |
1 Cup self-rising flour
1/2 Cup sugar
2 tablespoons plus 1/4 cup baking cocoa, divided
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup packaged brown sugar
1 3/4 cups hot water
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and 2 tablespoons
cocoa. Stir in milk and oil until smooth. Pour into a
greased 8-inch baking pan. Combine the brown sugar and
remaining cocoa; sprinkle over the batter. Pour hot
water over the top (do not stir). Bake at 350F degrees
for 45-50 minutes or until top of cake springs back
hen lightly touched. Seerve warm with vanilla ice
cream.

Warren's
Spicy Pecan Recipe
| |
1/2 cup Frank's Hot Sauce
1/2 Cup butter or margarine (melted)
2 cups pecans (not "pah-kahns", if
you don't know the difference, you ain't from around
here, are ya?)
Mix sauce and melted butter, pour over pecans and let
sit for 5-10 minutes. Drain off excess sauce. Bake at
350 (F) until lightly browned. Let cool to touch and
eat!
